Okay and here are the treads to Johnny5! In total this model has around 300 tread links that I got from the MT61 Chrystal Reaper and from Lego Education! The treads move by two XL motors that are geared down to half speed. The NXT or you can control the PF motors via a remote or the IR link (from Hitechnic) The base is pretty simple light construction you can see the support wheel in the back Pic.2 that can move up with a spring (like suspension) and turn around on an axle. He mas a pretty strong frame that you can see best in you look at the back of him Pic. 3 I hoped you liked this section.....
The arms are one of this cool features on this model even though there is one motor driving them they have two DOF that simulate J5's arms. It is more clear to see if you look at the YT video that is coming in a week or two to actually see how effective this way is. The hands to not move sadly,it would of been too much of a task to get then to open and grab stuff while making him look good. in the pictures you can see how the mec. works so please look at each one!!
The head is a key element to making J5 Look like himself, I actually cared so much that I had to make 5 prototypes to get one that would look good. Although he looks like he is sad That is really because of the fact that I had to put the eyebrows down in that direction to make him look realistic. You can see he has a turntable for movement and a M motor that spins it. He has a rare piece Transparent Red grill plates for the mouth! that makes him look pretty neat. I would check out the other pictures to get a better understanding of how the shape is in the head!
Hey, Thanks for reading. There will be a video on YOUTUBE and it will be REALLY cool! Thanks for reading and I hoped you liked it!
