Bagit Bot
Have you ever been at the supermarket and all you want to do is get a few eggs and leave? Then, there is a very long line where you buy your eggs, but the person in front of you needs to ring up about a thousand items. It seems to take forever because the guy needs to scan the items and then it takes even longer because he needs to put them all in bags? Well, that's why I made the bagit bot (for the food factor challenge) to bag all the food after the clerk rings it up. All you got t do is put the food in front of the robot, and it will pick it up and drop it into the bag.

Building and Movie

How it works: claw opens and waits for color sensor to not sense black. When it senses a color, the claw closes, drags the item to the bag, and drops it into the bag. If you want to see it in action, you should watch the movie. There are two motors, a intelligent brick, and a color sensor in the robot. In the claw, I added two small gears that turn two large gears, which makes the claw stronger, so it can pick up heavier items.

  • Really cool idea. You could get a temperature sensor so it can put cold items (ice cream) in a freezer bag.

  • Really cool. The only flaw I can think of in it is what would happen if it DROPPED EGGS into the bag. 4****'s!

  • Also, a rolling base on the claw would help keep from scratching up the motors.
