Arthropet
This nice arthropod looks like a spider with antennae (cables). It is the result of a little exercise we did in school to study the essence of movement. We first started building a mechanism with no wheels and only one motor and with the fewer number of bricks. Later we added an identical second mechanism and finally the intelligent brick to make an autonomous robot. The video shows the ability to run the robot with or without the intelligent brick, which seats freely on top of the base without any connector. The program is very simple, a time loop with the two motors running infinitely in opposite directions. Each motor has only 10 beams attached, the connection between motors has 6 beams, the 4 fixed legs have 2 beams each and the intelligent brick has 4 beams, which look like mouth-parts and claws. The whole robot has 38 beams.

  • That is truly lovely! Such a simple mechanism to make such smooth movement. I really like it. When I'm between two of my own projects I will build it for myself.
