Ok, so you might think that the fan just slows the whole robot down because of its weight, but I have it geared up to where it spins fast enough to make it go faster than it does without it. You can even feel a cool breeze if you get close to it while it is spinning. : P As you can tell, I DO NOT like cheesy decorations that don't even work.
In the picture, you can see that the back of the car only has one wheel and does not have a rubber tire. At first, I left the tire on the wheel, and there was too much resistance on the front wheels. Without a motor for the back wheel, the robot wouldn't budge! But then I took off the tire, tested the program, and when the Air Racer took off, it was like a race against time! I was really surprised by how fast it could move. It blew me away! ;)
I made a slightly complex program for this project. It starts the program at 85 power, and boosts to 100 power if you press one of the two touch sensors. If it sees anything in its path, it quickly stops motors B and C, but lets motor A (the fan) keep running. Once motors B and C come to a complete stop, the robot says, "Goodbye", and stops the program altogether.
