C.A.R. (Compact Adaptable Robot)
This is my version of a car. This is also my entry into the "Snapbot" challenge. I know that the steering is not the typical type. The type used right now is skid-stop steering (Meaning this car works more like a tank's steering than a car's), so it is not as smooth, but works well anyway. To make this a better creation, add the ultrasonic sensor to the roof. This addition really adds to the creation. The main reason is that the roof can tilt up and down any angle you want it to be and stay there. This was a very quick project to make, but works extremely well. I have included a program which makes this robot avoid obstacles with much ability. You can take the ideas in this car, and the program to build into your robot, but please give credit. I hope you enjoy this project if you build it. Please feel free to comment if you do not think the pictures are good enough, or if there are flaws to point out or just comment.

C.A.R. LDD

This is my LDD, and seeing as LDD doesn't fit the pieces on right, I left them in the LDD, but not on the actual LDD creation. I hope you can figure out how to build it from the pictures. The parts not attached are three front bars, two frame parts need to be angled down, and the ultrasonic sensor is optional.

  • When you said that anyone could build this, that doesn't make any sense of the fact that thers no ldd for it but a neat project.

  • looks good n' all, but it would not function.
To make this layout work you have to have a caster wheel at the back like on Tri-Bot. Or you have to add gearing so that all 4 wheels are driven, each side independently. Right now when you try to turn the back wheels will want to slide from side to side, but they have rubber tires that will grip the ground and your vehicle will just "stall"
Try using a rack and pinion, caster wheel, or gear up the rear wheels.

  • Murcielago,

This robot easily functions well. This is not a replica of a tank's steering, and does turn. This vehicle works well.

  • Great robot! I like it because it looks like a car but is very compact. I built my own version of this, but with conventional car steering. May I post it?

  • Hey 3DBlenderRender,
Is this model based on my C.A.R.? (It's okay if it is, I don't care.) By the way, does your username have anything to do with the rendering software Blender 3D? If it does, I NEED HELP!!! I"M BAD AT IT!!!(And I want to make a movie. :) )
